A session with Severin Roth
A working session on turning Swiss grid theory into responsive layout systems your team can ship with confidence.
Session details
Every interface is a grid, whether you chose it or not. This session makes the choice deliberate. We trace the lineage from Müller-Brockmann’s poster grids to the responsive systems inside today’s design tools, then extract the parts that still matter.
Expect hands-on work: we will take a messy marketing page and rebuild it on a modular grid, debating breakpoints, gutters, and where the baseline grid earns its keep. You will leave with a decision framework for column counts, spacing scales, and container widths that survives contact with real content.
We close with documentation — because a grid nobody else understands is a personal opinion. You will see how to capture your layout system so engineers, writers, and future teammates can apply it without a meeting.
